The history of Standard Distribution Co. began when Stan and Norma Seroke, grandparents of Stan and David Poe (current owners), moved from Chicago, IL to Iowa in search of new opportunities. In 1936, Stan Seroke started Standard Distributing, a wholesale beverage business distributing beer, in Waterloo, Iowa.
Over the years the Poe family continued to grow their business and purchased Crystal Ice and Cold Storage in 1979, which had been a cold storage warehousing business since the late 1800’s. In 1999 Crystal Distribution Services expanded their warehousing business and built a new 150,000 square foot dry warehouse for an existing food grade client.
The cold and dry storage facilities operated under the Crystal name until 2005 when the two groups separated and the dry storage group changed its name back to Standard Distribution Co. Today, Standard Distribution Co. has evolved into a full service third party logistics (3PL) company based in the geographic middle of the country with facilities throughout the United States. The company’s diverse and experienced staff has the capability to open up warehousing facilities anywhere they’re needed.
